Biography of Great Mumbela

Great Mumbela (Mumbela Sibusiso Treasure Godswill; born April 4th 1996) is a Nigerian-born Afrobeats artist, cultural innovator, and founder of Mumbela Empire. With ancestral roots in the Zulu people of South Africa and the Bantu of Central Africa, Mumbela is best known for his debut album, God Blessed Africa, the Colours of Africa Tour, and the God Blessed Africa Festivals, initiatives that combine music, dance, and culture to promote African unity.

Early life and background!

Mumbela was born in 1996 in Lagos, Nigeria, where he was also raised. His great-grandparents, originally from South Africa, migrated to Nigeria during the apartheid era. His ancestry traces to the Zulu of South Africa and the Bantu of Central Africa.

Growing up, Mumbela was inspired by the music of Brenda Fassie, Miriam Makeba, and Hugh Masekela, artists whose work fused entertainment with cultural resistance. He began singing at a very young age, developing a passion for storytelling through melody.

Career!
Debut and God Blessed Africa

Mumbela’s debut project, the album God Blessed Africa, was released as both a musical and cultural manifesto. The album explores themes of African pride, heritage, and unity, combining afrobeats with traditional African influences.

Colours of Africa Tour and Festivals!

Following the album, Mumbela launched the Colours of Africa Tour, a pan-African initiative bringing together communities and youth through music and dance. He also founded the God Blessed Africa Festivals, large-scale cultural festivals staged across African countries, celebrating heritage through performance, choreography, and cultural exhibitions.
